Mount Etna is the highest and most active volcanoe in Europe. It is located on the island of Sicily in Italy. The mount is more than 570,000 years old and covers an area of 1,190km2. It has a basal diameter of 40km and is 3327 meters high.
The mount is really important for the region thanks to it fertile volcanic soil and for the tourism it attracts. It has been listed in 2013 as a Unesco’s World Heritage List.
